It marks me with a feeling that I'm sure is shared with the what the author felt. Very good writing. Don't you love true poetry from old? I believe he lost someone dear to him and I'm not sure why the murmur from the shore would have meaning to him unless he and his lover were once there together. But, these are my observations only after reading it twice..
