I’m not sure about anyone else, but I read the about page of websites I stumble upon for the first time. It is ironic that it has taken almost a year for me to complete my about page. Rather than present a list of hobbies, interests and others items I’ll try a narrative approach.

Professionally I’m an Information Security Architect. I attempt to break designs and implementations of applications before they are broken by someone with less than honest intentions. I think this line of work fits my personality quite nicely. It requires a signifcant amount of familiarity (the more the better) with a wide range of topics. Some topics include programming (secure and otherwise), development lifecycles, computer architecture, information architecture, protocols of all shapes, sizes and implementations and, of course, a never-ending question of why things work the way that they do.

At home I’m many things; A husband to my wife of almost thirteen years, a father of two children, a teacher and a learner. I’m always learning independently or with my family. I have been playing the guitar for nearly eight years although I imagine you would think I’ve only been playing for two or three. I practice, when I can, Chinese martial arts. I enjoy drawing, but as time has gotten on I’ve not done that nearly as much as I want. I ocassionally write short stories or excerpts from a book that I may someday finish. I enjoy learning languages, but can, at best understand, one tenth of the words I can speak in Hebrew and Ancient Greek. I’m about to begin Latin this year and next with my daughter so that should be quite the experiement. Oh, I almost forgot, I love cooking. At first it was just baking, but now I like preparing semi-complex dishes with fresh ingredients. Tomato-based sauces are a breeze and offer almost limitless possibilities. My daughter Jade enjoys my chicken marsala when I make it. Someday I’ll go to culinary school. I’m also going to school part time and intend to transfer to university where I will study philosophy and history. Following that, if I haven’t changed my mind, I’ll pursue an advanced degree in biblical studies.

I could go on and on, but I’ll stop. Needless to say, my life is almost a sort of grand quest. A quest for truth where it can be found and the clarity to live up to my potential and telos. I enjoy sharing my quest and learning from other questors, which is the reason for my blog. Actually, to be honest, this blog is a selfish exercise for me to articulate my thoughts, but I enjoy the dialogues with others. My quest for this truth is so that it might produce positive change within. Only time will tell if I’ve used properly what I’ve discovered.

If anyone is strangely curious enough to know more, feel free to drop me a line.
